Clean skincare has been an emerging topic in the wellness industry over the past year, and we think that this is one of the most critical issues that we as consumers and as a brand endure. The US has not passed a law regulating personal care products since 1938. Therefore, major brands have been cutting corners by using less expensive and toxic ingredients. Having clean skincare products that are cruelty free, locally sourced, non-toxic, and vegan is our upmost priority. Unfortunately, this thinking is somewhat rare within the wellness industry.
Not only will you be saving precious animals by using cruelty free makeup, but you'll also be contributing to the fast growing “green movement.” Brands that create vegan and organic products often use recycled products for their packaging meaning that products that would normally clog landfills are instead used to create the packaging of their cosmetics. For example, all of our packaging at Nourish and Refine is reusable – down to our empty candle containers. Landfills around the country are brimming with trash and toxic materials and supporting brands that are responsible with their packaging and waste is critical.
Integrity of Ingredients
Non-vegan makeup and wellness products are LOADED with bacteria that can clog your pores, inflame your skin, create a rash, provoke acne prone skin, and irritate sensitive skin. Traditional wellness products typically include “lanolin (wool grease), squalene (shark liver oil), carmine (crushed-up beetles), gelatin (cow or pig bones, tendons or ligaments), allantoin (cow urine), ambergris (whale vomit) and placenta (sheep organs)” according to The New York Times. Personally, we do not believe in exploiting the environment or animals to create wellness products. In our line of products, you will find 100% natural and organic ingredients, down to the soybeans made to create soy wax for our candles.
Supporting A Mission You Believe In
Since the conversation around clean beauty is a hot topic in 2020, brands are now embracing financial inclusivity by offering products at all range of prices. Another perk is that when you buy from local brands and small businesses, you are helping to boost the local economy and give your dollars to a mission and set of values that align with yours.
