Our Favorite Winter Skincare Must-Haves

Our Favorite Winter Skincare Must-Haves

We are ~finally~ having our first snow and as beautiful as it is to watch the snowflakes fall, we know winter can be a real burden to our skin. From dry skin to chapped lips, we have every cold-weather remedy you could ask for to satisfy the chilly downside of winter. Here are five of our winter must-haves for beautiful, radiant skin!
We all know the feeling of walking outside on a cold winter’s day only to be blasted with a whoosh of cold air, leaving our skin feeling dry and chapped. Have no fear because our winter body butter is here! Our specially made body butter is only available during the coldest months of the year, delivering the most moisturized formula your skin has ever experienced. Made from shea and cocoa butter and infused with jojoba, one of the best ingredients to lock in moisture, there will be no dry skin here. Put it on your body and hands, and your skin will have you feeling like you are floating on air.
Take it from us, nothing is worse than chapped lips in the wintertime. You know, lips that are cracked and raw, are even more sensitive when wearing our masks. That is why having a good lip scrub and balm comes in handy. We love our Sweet Lips Honey Lip Balm and the all-natural Raspberry Lip Scrub, separate or together as a pair. From honey and sugar crystals to raspberry powder to soften and exfoliate the lips, nothing is better than the feeling of smooth lips. Not only will your lips feel better, but there is an added beauty bonus. By scrubbing your lips, you whisk away dead skin cells, dry skin, and leave a smooth surface for beauty application, be that balm, gloss, or lipstick.
If you are not one for a thick moisturizer during winter, a luxurious body oil might be more of the product you are going for. Our Natural Body Oil is still deeply hydrating, but light enough to wear every day. With ingredients like organic sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, and a blend of all-natural aromatic essential oils, not only will your skin feel incredibly soft, but you will smell delightful too! We recommend the best use of our body oil is applying directly after jumping out of the shower, that way the moisture will lock right into the skin. Tip: mix in a few drops of our Natural Body Oil to your favorite moisturizer to easily penetrate the deeper layers of your skin.
Much like our Natural Body Oil, our Luxury Face Oil is perfect for someone looking for something light, yet full of great ingredients for hydration. All-natural anti-aging rosehip oil helps target fine lines and wrinkles while nourishing and feeding the skin. In our opinion, the greatest part about this product is the fact that you can use it in so many different ways. From a base moisturizer to mixing it in with another moisturizer for double the hydration, to using it on the ends of your hair. Our Luxury Face Oil is not just a luxury for your skin, but for other parts of you as well. There is nothing worse than having a dry face in the middle of winter, but luckily our face oil comes to the rescue to save your winter skin.
Nothing beats the smell of citrus in the morning. That is why we love our Citrus Face Mist, which adds the perfect multi-use product to our lineup. Created from a blend of blood orange water and ginger water, you not only get a reenergizing burst of goodness, but that burst contains all of the purest antioxidants and vitamins your skin needs.
A few of it's many uses include:
refreshing your face and body
adding an extra layer of protection
setting makeup
energizing you in the morning
freshening pillows and blankets
This face mist does it all and will carry you from season to season without missing a spritz.

12 Ways to Create a Spa Day at Home

12 Ways to Create a Spa Day at Home

While pampering yourself to a spa day might not be the first thing on your to-do list, it may be just what you need to relax and unwind. It doesn’t matter if you live in a condo in New York or a house in Phoenix, you can indulge in a spa and wellness retreat without even leaving your home. Treat yourself to a spa day at home with these 12 tips we’ve gathered from experts.
Indulge your senses
Creating a spa day at home involves evoking the senses of sight, sound, touch, and smell. Find a room, area, or even a corner and clear it completely of visual distraction and clutter. Place a living plant to encourage oxygenation, light an aromatherapy candle or use pure essential oils in a diffuser, create a song list of calm, soothing music, and relax in a comfy chair, or on a pile of pillows/soft blankets. – Cloud 9 Spa Salon
Let your stress fade away
As you move throughout your day in your home turned office, school, or gym, you can feel the stress piling on and we’re here to help. Products made with essential oils + CBD will have you feeling like you have checked yourself into a fabulous resort spa ready to wear your plush robe day and night. Chill out with a spritz of cooling spray, get a grip on your day with a stress roller blend, and finally doze off in a sweet slumber as you apply a sleep roller to specific pulse points. Place these items on your nightstand for easy access. – Plant Juice Oils
Incorporate lavender into your day
Add an aromatherapy element to your at-home spa experience with organic, pure essential oils.  Lavender oil has calming properties and eucalyptus oil is anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. Try adding a few drops to your bathwater, use a diffuser, or mix a few drops with water in a spray bottle to fill the whole room with a soothing aroma. – Savhera
Reach ultimate relaxation with sheet masks
To create a spa day at home, we recommend using Patchology productswhich have fabulous sheet masks to fit any need – full face, eye gels, lip gels, foot and hand treatments, and more. – Ama Spa Chattanooga
Pay attention to textures
Keep in mind that much of the spa experience happens with your eyes closed, so focus on three of your other senses – touch, smell, and sound. Spas are all about texture so it’s important to use ultra-soft bamboo sheets, cozy robes, and the bristles of a dry brush. Natural materials connect us back to the earth and back to ourselves. Use a diffuser or candles to create a scent that lifts your mood and dreamy, lush music throughout your home to transcend you to a different place. – Solei Day Spa
Use candles to set the tone
Set the tone for a spa day at home by lighting a candle, sprinkle soothing bath salts, and a few drops of natural body oil into your next bath for a calming in-home self-care experience. Add a candle to each room in your home to invoke a sense of peace and ease, energy and excitement, and rest and relaxation. – Nourish and Refine
Make time for yourself
Today more than ever, people are spending more time at home and embracing DIY spa treatments. That’s why it’s so important to give people the tools to create true spa-worthy results at home so they can feel and look their best anytime. In a rush? For a morning pick me up, mix fresh seaweed powder with equal parts sea salt and olive oil. Add a few drops of invigorating peppermint or grapefruit oil. Scrub all over the body in shower for a full head to toe exfoliation. Have an hour? As you’re winding down for the evening, light an aromatic candle, draw a warm bath, and add a DIY bath bomb. Mix up your favorite face mask with water or a carrier oil and smooth over the face with a brush and hop in the tub.  -Shiri Sarfati, 23 SKIN Founder and Licensed Esthetician
Add Jojoba to your routine
Creating a relaxing experience is always a beneficial indulgence, this year more than ever, and you don’t need to make it complicated to treat yourself with a spa day at home. With Jojoba extract, you can use one product to do many things: give your hair a deep conditioning oil treatment before washing, oil cleanse your face, and moisturize your face and body after a warm shower or bath.  Look no further than our Natural Body Oil a blend of jojoba and sweet almond.- Nikki Powers, Nourish & Refine Founder
Clear your head and set your intentions
We recommend establishing a calm space or sacred space to clear your thoughts and cast your intention of what you want the outcome to be of your experience. Lighting candles, using crystals, relaxing music, and aromatherapy are all great ways to decompress and create a spa day at home. You can pair an essential oil foot bath or detoxifying bath with a hydrating enzyme masque or recovering eye gel. – Body Massage Wellness Spa
Find inner peace
Scent evokes powerful memories, and by using essential oils you can create a relaxing scent that transports you to your favorite day at the spa. Once you discover the essential oil blend that helps you achieve that inner peace, diffuse it in your home to create a spa-like atmosphere. If you don’t have a diffuser, make a spritzer combining essential oils with water and spray it on your bath towels. – Essential 3
Use relaxing scents
Right about now, we could all use a break from the stress and anxiety of the COVID-19 pandemic and turn our home into the ultimate sanctuary of tranquility. You can create a spa day at home with a few simple tweaks like incorporating spa-like scents in your home and creating a daily wellness ritual by filling a room with a lovely, calming aroma. Essential oils such as lavender, ylang-ylang, and eucalyptus are great. Scents are personal so what’s most important is that you use a scent that you love and feels relaxing to you. Essential oils can be used in diffusers or mixed with water and sprayed as an air freshener. – MEVEI
Schedule a Zoom facial
We encourage investing in good, organic skincare products that allow you to create a self-care ritual from home. During COVID, research and find spas that are offering Zoom facials with an esthetician guide to do with friends near and far. To create a spa day at home, have hot towels, a candle, and zen music playing to create the spa vibe and finish with a minute or two of meditation. – JLounge

3 Step Ayurvedic Skincare Routine

3 Step Ayurvedic Skincare Routine

Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word meaning “Science of Life.” It is one of the world’s oldest practices for holistic healing, and has been modernized in the Western world in several ways. One way you can incorporate Ayurveda into your own lifestyle is through your skincare routine. Here is a simple guide increasing self-love and relaxation through therapeutic practices and Ayurvedic rituals.

1. Facial Massage while Cleansing

Did you know most people are not cleansing their face properly? We often rush through cleansing, rubbing on some soap and rinsing it off before hurrying out of the bathroom. But for proper cleansing, it is best to take your time (30 seconds minimum) so the cleanser can emulsify dirt and bacteria out of your pores. Allow yourself to slow down and focus on the task at hand, so it is a soothing experience instead of a quick chore.
Grab the cleanser of your choice and follow these steps:
  • Gently stroke upwards on your neck to your jawline. It is important to not skip the neck area, think of it as an extension of your face.

  • With two of your fingers, make small circular motions on your chin, then the sides of your mouth.

  • Wipe back and forth across your upper lip

  • Massage large circles around your cheeks, eye area, and temples

  • Scrub the sides of your nostrils and upward on your nose until you reach your forehead

  • Massage your forehead with zigzag motions, from the center out. Don’t forget to reach all the way up your hairline.

  • Circle around your eyes one more time. Hold at your temples, take a deep breath, and release.

  • Rinse and pat dry.

2. Spray with Rosewater

Pure White Rosewater is extremely gentle and good for all skin types. The delicate scent of white rose petals has therapeutic properties to promote love, happiness, and peace. As a skincare product, it is wonderful for balancing your skin’s pH levels and oil production. It is also very calming for sensitive or breakout-prone skin. All of this makes rosewater an excellent natural toner.
After cleansing, spray it liberally across your face, as well as your neck and collarbone. Allow yourself to be enveloped in the scent for a few seconds and imagine it bringing you love and clear skin. Let it absorb into your skin before moving to your next step.

3. Finish with a Facial Oil

No matter your skin type, you need a moisturizer to nourish and protect your skin’s barrier function. Our Luxury Face Oil is the perfect addition to your skincare routine. As it is very rich and potent, you only need a few drops. Squeeze a few into your palms and rub them together, just enough to warm up the product, but not so much that your hands absorb it all. Then gently press into your skin, making sure to cover both of your face and neck. Enjoy this simple practice twice daily and don’t forget to protect your skin with sunscreen.

The Importance of Self-Massage

The Importance of Self-Massage

It is incredible the number of things our body can take. Between physical pressure, the stresses of everyday life, and the constant moving about we do, it’s safe to say our bodies can withstand quite a lot. That’s why giving them a break every once in a while, is necessary for our physical, mental and even spiritual well-being. This time, we are sharing with you how self-massage, Abhyanga massage specifically, can be beneficial to the health of your mind and body, because making sure our body gets a bit of downtime is the ultimate act of self-care.
So, what exactly is Abhyanga? Abhyanga is a form of Ayurvedic medicine, founded in India, that involves massaging the body with warm oil. From the top of your head to the tip of your toes, this massage combines together both deep circular strokes and warm oil to promote a host of incredible benefits including lymphatic drainage, reducing stress and muscle stiffness, increasing energy, and lowering blood pressure. While this thousand-year old massage technique is nothing new, the oils we use are quite important. Our Natural Body Oil is the perfect product to use, with ingredients like almond oil, which helps with dry skin and moisturization, jojoba oil, which has healing properties including having some of the highest levels of antioxidants and nutrients, and all-natural aromatic essential oils derived from plants including lavender and chamomile.  You are sure to feel completely at peace by the end of the massage.
As with all self-care routines these days, finding an activity you can do yourself is key. Luckily, the best part of this massage is that you can do it right in the comfort of your own home. With just a few simple steps, you will be on your way to pure and utter relaxation.
Start by pouring some of our Natural Body Oil into the palm of your hands and gently rub your hands together to warm up the oil.  Next, start with your scalp and massage using circular motions. Start by massaging your face, rubbing the oil into your jaw, cheekbones, ears, and other tension points, again always in a circular motion. This promotes good blood circulation throughout. Next move down to your chest, massaging your neck, chest, arms and stomach. Move towards your thighs, legs, and bottom. Finally, finish by massaging your toes and the soles of your feet. These parts can carry a lot of stress, especially for those of us who are constantly on our feet all day, so it’s important to take special care.  After you are finished massaging, let the oil sink in to the skin for about 20 minutes, and then rinse. As the seasons change and the weather gets colder, we suggest finishing off by using the Spa Body Butter in Lavender and Rose to lock in much needed moisture.
With everything going on right now in our world, we want to bring to you a small bit of relaxation. We hope massaging with our Natural Body Oil brings you peace and allows you indulge in special moments of self-care.

What I Learned by Investing in My Self-Care

What I Learned by Investing in My Self-Care

Self-care is defined as the practice of taking an active role in protecting one's own well-being and happiness.” However, do we protect and hold sacred our self-care as much as we pour ourselves into work, family, and other life’s demands? For most of us, the answer is “no.”

Self-care isn’t rooted in self-indulgence or luxury. It’s about knowing when your resources are running low, and stepping back to replenish rather than letting them all drain away. I find that when I am not taking good care of myself, I struggle to find patience for others. I am counting down the hours until 5pm. I am reaching for the easy way out, when I know that’s not the most rewarding path.
It is okay to say no
How many times have we all said, “yes” to a night out when all we really wanted to do was curl up in bed? We are groomed as a society to say “yes,” and when we do have the courage to say, “no” we punish ourselves. We reward ourselves when we feel that our agendas are crammed full of activities, as this somehow makes our day more valid. When I became invested in making some time in the day for me, that meant saying “no” to walking the dog for an extra 10 minutes. It also meant that I’m saying “no” to the emails burning a hole in my inbox. When I said, “yes” to me, I became more invested in the “yes’s” that came afterwards.
Self-care is more than a face mask
Self-care is a REALLY big concept. When I became invested in caring for myself, I wanted to focus on small actions that made me feel gratitude. One of the most effective ways for me to identify these small joys of life, was creating a bullet journal. Writing a simple list of what I am grateful for (a cup of coffee, my good health, spring around the corner…) made me realize just how lucky I am. It also shifted my perspective, and lighted my mood. Self-care doesn’t just come in the form of a face mask or getting a manicure - it is free, attainable, and accessible to everyone and allows you to take a moment to yourself to rest, relax and restore each and every day.
